Well now, what do people say about PRIDE again, Yebie-boy? On a different subject, I am sure the demon lords of sloth and Gluttony is in great shape, always do those extra physical activities and dieting.
Really? I totally saw that coming. Think about it – something was bound to go wrong, of course, and Min had tried to warn him about this very problem. The delicious irony wouldn’t be there with any other problem.
And also, you all can drop this grammar discussion. People in dialogue do not always use correct English, and I will not be changing the dialogue this time. You all will soon see why.
It’s still incorrect. You wrote a line that was clumsy English. It’s okay – you can admit it. People do that, sometimes. But if you want to just go ahead and rationalize it – hey, it’s your comic. I, myself, can’t go a full day without at least one rationalization.
Are you kidding? I’m still trying to figure out which one are the heroes.
Dragon whatchamacallit paladin? Oh yeah, he’s totally sympathetic and role model material. Especially the way he holds that mace between his cheeks.
Tigger? Nope.
Lionals? Nah. While outsmarting a demon can be heroic, that would also require them to do it for a good reason, and I ain’t seen one yet.
The dim minotaur? Nope, Proven fact, beefcake can’t be heroic, only scenery.
The gnoll? Okay, you might have a point there. He’s reasonable, rather competent… and will probably meet an unfortunate end in the next strip.
Grammar, I just read, is knowing your shit rather than knowing you’re shit. But yeah, which heroes are you talking about, kemosabe? Finding out the leonals constitute a failure on the demon’s part doesn’t necessarily make them heroic – not yet, anyway. Even if they count as a failure for him, being all sugar and spice and all, they still haven’t done anything to make them truly sympathetic or heroic. The dungeon party, aside from the gnoll, as Xonimmortal said, are either self-interested yerks or self-righteous arseholes. Not truly heroic. I like Min, of course, and Gigantus, or Maximoso or Collossus, or whatever the big minotaur’s name is. Without a “Cast Of Characters” page, it’s a little difficult to keep them all straight without going back and reading the whole thing. Glad the litch is back, though. Loved him cackling at the demon lord’s discomfiture. When can we expect a new update?
Suppose TWO swallows carried the grammatical together? They’d have to have it on a line, but they just use a standard creeper, held under the dorsal guiding feathers …
Oh, yeah, a NORMAL swallow maybe, but not an Internet swallow is my point.
But then of course Normal swallows are not migratory and turn into trolls and nazis when they hit the internet.
“This constitutes a failure” would be correct, however, the entire sentence is “I suppose this constitutes as a failure” where the ‘as’ acts to complement the ‘I suppose.’
If any words could be omitted, it would be the ‘a’, but that would only serve to alter the sense from a single failure to the act of failing itself. As Yebor isn’t likely to be admit being someone who fails, the ‘a’ is therefore necessary to form the inference of this being a one-off.
For simplicity, we can isolate the embedded clause and ignore the “I suppose” part. In this case, the correct expression is “This constitutes a failure” and not “This constitutes as a failure”. Why? Because… that’s just how it is. There’s no grammatical rule to explain this, it’s simply a matter of collocation, a matter of how people talk, and what is (arbitrarily) accepted as “correct”.
It’s for the same reason Greg’s (ironic) response above, “Now you’re just as being silly”, is incorrect, and the proper phrase is “Now you’re just being silly”. Collocation!
I didn’t notice that at all – I thought he’d just turned the gas up a bit. D’oh! I don’t suppose it’ll do them any good though (especially as word of God has it).
The African swallows turn into trolls, while the European ones turn i to Nazis. After all, who ever heard of an African Nazi? European Nazis were all the rage at one point, however. It has to do with their average air speed, especially when laden with migratory cocanuts.
Okay, now I’m really curious as to how this happened.
poor demon lord tried 4E crap in a 3.5 dungeon, he didn’t get the memo I fear.
What, did he accidentally replace the ingredients of the potion with sugar and spice?
Well now, what do people say about PRIDE again, Yebie-boy? On a different subject, I am sure the demon lords of sloth and Gluttony is in great shape, always do those extra physical activities and dieting.
Yebor really messed up. Sexy lions now good? This could be interesting!
Yeah .you do that Yebor. failures like the good lions there needs to be crushed. Sexy lions should be demonic and evil.
I know I’m a pedant, but “constitutes as a failure” should be “constitutes a failure”.
Sorry. I’ll just get my coat. *shuffles apologetically out of the comments thread*
I’m pretty sure I like the former. It stays.
Good for as you!
Now you’re just as being silly.
What’s your point? This is a comic, after all, isn’t it?
Heh heh heh heh heh heh.
Poor White Hawk.
Heh heh heh heh heh heh…
I’m poor for being as silly? I don’t as get it.
In a week or so, you’ll get it. It has nothing to do with being silly. It has everything to do for inspiration.
I believe White Hawk is right, the correct expression is “constitutes a failure”… :X
Unfortunately, Yebor is a demon and not a grammar nazi !
Gotta say though, I did not expect the Lion Pride to be Good aligned.
Gay mayhaps, (male lions are known to do eachother) but not good.
(seriously! It’ll be fun!)
I’m going to lock myself in my bunker until the next update… *gibber*
It’s still incorrect. You wrote a line that was clumsy English. It’s okay – you can admit it. People do that, sometimes. But if you want to just go ahead and rationalize it – hey, it’s your comic. I, myself, can’t go a full day without at least one rationalization.
For me, it still sounds better, but it doesn’t sound more better if you catch my humor.
However! I won’t go back and change it! Why? Because you’ll see in a couple of weeks, that’s why!
And please stop talking about this. Talk about how the heroes are royally screwed instead!
Are you kidding? I’m still trying to figure out which one are the heroes.
Dragon whatchamacallit paladin? Oh yeah, he’s totally sympathetic and role model material. Especially the way he holds that mace between his cheeks.

I should work on a cast of characters page. It wouldn’t be too difficult just to have their name and icon.
A new update will happen when I get the new page. I’ll bug John about it right now!
That would be excellent.
But —
Suppose TWO swallows carried the grammatical together? They’d have to have it on a line, but they just use a standard creeper, held under the dorsal guiding feathers …
Oh, yeah, a NORMAL swallow maybe, but not an Internet swallow is my point.
But then of course Normal swallows are not migratory and turn into trolls and nazis when they hit the internet.
Wait, would this be an African swallow or a European one?
I think this fact may well have made him misspeak a recent creation spell…
Actually Greg is right.
“This constitutes a failure” is an embedded clause serving as the complement to Yebor’s act of supposing:
subject + predicator + complement
“I” + “suppose” + “this constitutes a failure”
For simplicity, we can isolate the embedded clause and ignore the “I suppose” part. In this case, the correct expression is “This constitutes a failure” and not “This constitutes as a failure”. Why? Because… that’s just how it is.

It’s now time to drop this discussion.
Did Yebor just FWOOSH to the other side of the party, hence leaving the dungeon exit completely unobstructed?
He can keep it up all day if he wants to, so don’t worry!
I didn’t notice that at all – I thought he’d just turned the gas up a bit. D’oh! I don’t suppose it’ll do them any good though (especially as word of God has it).
Aw, I hope we get to see more of the Lionels…
We may be seeing a lot more of the Lionels, unfortunately it will likely be internals.
Sabotage to a demon lord. How… unexpected.
…
Heh heh.
“Good and virtuous” are relative. What Yebor would consider ‘good’ would not be the same as what the paladin believes.
+1 for D&D alignment specifications.
Can I talk about how loincloths are impractical? A stiff breeze and the shipping starts!
I am glad to see updates again, and I want to see how this turns out…The whole story..not the loincloths..I’ll stop talking..
Smooting..Smotting! ….and bbq sauce.
Garrard
So if the Leonals succumb to their nature of being Neutral Good, does this mean that the Rakshasa will succumb to being Lawful Evil soon?
The African swallows turn into trolls, while the European ones turn i to Nazis. After all, who ever heard of an African Nazi? European Nazis were all the rage at one point, however. It has to do with their average air speed, especially when laden with migratory cocanuts.
How on earth did my comment get way up here???
